Three weeks of chaos for NZ insurance brokers affected by power outage at UK data centre
Customers are being warned to check that their insurance policies have not lapsed following a long running data glitch affecting about 20 insurance brokers.
Some New Zealand insurance brokers have been crippled by a power failure that knocked out access to a UK data centre almost three weeks ago.
Insurance technology company SSP has copped mounting criticism after the power problem on August 26 led to systems outages for brokers and underwriters in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
Coverage of the issue in the UK insurance media suggested more than 40 per cent of brokers there had suffered disruption to their business.
Murray Rosser of Hamilton-based Rosser Underwriting said most of his 12 staff had been sitting around twiddling their thumbs, and repeated assurances the system would be fixed "tomorrow" had come to nothing.
